1,2,3 by Craig Gassen

The genre of horror is usually regulated to the ghettos of literature; accompany that with a comic book format and you have trash, or so one would think. Gassen has formulated an ambitious art piece along with Steve Csutoras and Stefano Gaudiano in the most unlikely genre, and most unlikely medium. The short story featured in 1,2,3 is a dark exploration of the human psyche. We see the reptilian brain in all it's brutish ugliness: a static staccato of consciousness. The reader is flipped back and forth between images of the mundane and horrific. The story is both cryptic and universal.

Gassen's beautiful illustrations are also thrown in the mix, including one wild collage of arcane sexuality that would make the Marquis De Sade blush. 123, is not a book for all tastes, simply those with discernful ones.(Front Cover shown to left)
