Dark Eclipse: Rise of an Era Book 1 by Chris Salas Centuries after the first Era of Darkness, the Demonixa reemerge from the ashes of the chard throne of Morgmodeus, their fallen King. Seeking to restore his father's grip of tyranny on the Bytiluna star system, Carnmassicre the second son of Morgmodeus, develops a replica of the doomsday weapon that ended his father's reign; the Eclipse. Now with the Eclipse at his grasp, the light which was restored to the universe is once again threatened. As a safeguard against the impending peril, the Manduurin, ancestors to the Chlordon the perished creators of the Eclipse, form an alliance with the Human race and assemble a defense force made up of soldiers and scientists known simply as the Corps. Twenty-two years later, the first Human/Manduuran Eclipse prototype is developed. Knowing that another Eclipse has been created, Carnmassicre sends his most loyal minion, Minda-Prosperpine into the past to kill the four physicists responsible for the prototype. After getting wind of Carnmassicre's plan, the Corps enlists the aid of Maxwell Leer, a retired Major with a troubled past to stop Minda and repair time if needed. While Max is on his mission he meets a beautiful astronomer named Sara Manning, daughter of Dr. Seth Manning, one of the physicists who co-created the Human/Manduurin Eclipse. In Sara's eyes Max sees a strength and compassion that reminds him of his departed love. Together, they save the four physicists before Minda can change the future. But when Max returns to his present, he comes to find that the mission was not the success that he assumed; that more lives were lost than saved; that onver half of the fleet of the Corps has been wiped out. He learns that Carnmassicre, in light of Minda's failure, has begun an all out war against those who resist the new era. Feeling the burden of duty, Max reenlists in the Corps, and joins the cause to restore the peace that once was. Will Max be able to overcome the demons of the past and the present? Will Carnmassicre reign? Will there be a future or not? (Dark Eclipse front cover shown to left)
